What it does

Finnhub — real-time stock quotes plus fundamentals, company news, analyst recommendations, earnings calendar and market news. Complements raw price data with the 'why': ratings, headlines, and upcoming earnings. Use for a stock's current price, a company's news/profile, analyst buy/sell trends, or who reports earnings this week.

The Finnhub skill is one of 40+ pre-wired TradeLoop integrations that any MCP-compatible client — Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Codex CLI, and ChatGPT desktop — can call out of the box. You don't configure MCP servers or copy API keys into a JSON file; the TradeLoop daemon discovers the skill at startup and exposes its tools to whichever AI client is running.

  Get the current price for a stock/ETF symbol: last price, day change, % change, open, high, low, previous close. Best for U.S. equities (e.g. AAPL, SPY).

  Search for a symbol by company name or ticker and return matching symbols with descriptions and types.

• finnhub__company_profile

  Get a company's profile: name, exchange, industry, market cap, shares outstanding, IPO date, country, website.

• finnhub__company_news

  Get recent news headlines for a company over a date window (defaults to the last 7 days). Returns headline, source, time, summary and URL.

• finnhub__recommendation

  Get analyst recommendation trends for a symbol over recent months: counts of strong buy / buy / hold / sell / strong sell.

• finnhub__earnings_calendar

  List upcoming/recent earnings reports in a date window (defaults to next 14 days), optionally for one symbol. Returns date, time-of-day, EPS estimate/actual and revenue estimate/actual.

• finnhub__market_news

  Get general market news headlines by category (general, forex, crypto, merger).

How to connect

Finnhub needs a provider API key to talk to finnhub. Connect it from the TradeLoop dashboard:

1. Run curl -fsSL https://tradeloop.top/install.sh | sh on macOS / Linux (or the PowerShell command on Windows).
2. Run tradeloop login to create your account and a device-bound encryption key.
3. Visit tradeloop.top/connect and authorize Finnhub.
4. Run tradeloop update to sync the skill + credentials to every installed AI client.
